Orthodontic Dentistry

General Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialty within the field of dentistry that focuses on the alignment of the teeth and jaws. Orthodontic treatment involves the use of braces, aligners, retainers, and other devices to straighten the teeth and correct bite problems such as overbite, underbite, and crossbite.

Orthodontists use a variety of techniques and appliances to move the teeth into their proper positions, which can improve the appearance of the teeth and jaws and also help to correct functional problems with the bite.

Orthodontic treatment can be used to correct a wide range of dental issues in both children and adults. It is typically a long-term process that requires regular visits to the orthodontist to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan. In some cases, orthodontic treatment may involve the use of braces, which are metal or ceramic brackets that are attached to the teeth and connected by a wire. The wire is adjusted over time to gradually move the teeth into their proper positions. Other orthodontic appliances include clear aligners, headgear, and expanders.

Orthodontic treatment can help to improve the appearance of the teeth, boost self-confidence, and correct functional problems with the bite.

Dental Aligners

Dental aligners are orthodontic devices that are used to straighten teeth and correct misaligned bites. They are made of a clear, flexible material and are custom-fit to the patient’s teeth. Unlike braces, which are made of brackets and wires that are attached to the teeth, aligners are removable and can be taken out for eating, brushing, and flossing.
