Endodontics involves the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the dental pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue). Endodontic treatment, also known as root canal therapy, is necessary when the dental pulp becomes infected or damaged. The goal of endodontic treatment is to remove the infected or damaged tissue, clean and shape the inside of the tooth, and fill and seal the root canal space to prevent further infection.
